There was an old joke when I was a kid.  You had to set it up beforehand, that at the end of the joke, the folks in the know would laugh, leaving those who didn't know wondering about what was so funny.  Kind of like Hebrew.  You have to know what it says before you can understand it.

The joke went like this: Two elephants are sitting in a bathtub.  The first says to the second, "Please pass the soap."  The second says, "No soap, radio."

Volume 2?

Wow!  The DVD is getting a great reception.  People are already asking about Volume 2.  I've been thinking what is the best topic to cover next and am leaning toward covering the Hebrew verb system.  It is the most complex part of the language and unique to Hebrew and Aramaic.  On the other hand, it is very aesthetic in its regularity and levels of meaning.  I think it is the most useful topic I could cover.
However, not too soon.  I'm just home from sukkot (I hope you had a good holiday) and off the foreign lands again next week.  I'll be back in time to sing 'hodu l'Adonai ki tov'.  Did you know that 'hodu' not only means 'thanks' but also means 'turkey'?

Good news/good news/delayed news

I've been in the studio recording a DVD for learning Hebrew and I hope it will be available very soon.  I have some more recording to do and then processing, compiling, etc.  It is done classroom style and I hope it will enable anyone who wants to learn to read and write this great language.
